Hot Stars, Cool Drinks: Bonadea Aguas Frescas Attend the Latin Grammys

Colombian rocker Juanes certainly got the most stage time at last night's Ninth Annual Latin Grammys, as he had the honor of claiming five awards. However, a couple of Los Angeles-based entrepreneurs received comparable exposure at the event. Or, at least, a product of theirs did. Arnulfo Ventura and Jose Domene's Bonadea brand aquas frescas had the privilege of being included in this year's gift baskets, which were given to all performers and presenters. In other words, Bonadea was put right into the laps of the top stars of the Latin Music scene.

'Latino Arts Strings' Program Helps Kids With Music, Education, and Confidence

Fatima Gomez remembers being shy when she started kindergarten. "In my little world, I tried to do my best, but I didn't know English and it was hard the first couple of years," she said. Now an eighth-grader at Bruce Guadalupe Middle School in Milwaukee, Gomez gets straight A's and has played violin for six years in the Latino Arts Strings program, and credit music with helping her studies, especially math. Gomez and the strings program director, Dinorah Marquez, will visit the White House today to be honored by Laura Bush.

Latin Grammy Awards: Juanes Dominates with 5 Trophies

It was a night of sentimental gestures and few surprises at the ninth annual Latin Grammy Awards on Thursday night. Although co-host Patricia Manterola urged the audience to think about "the changes traversing the world" few changes were apparent onstage at the Toyota Center in Houston. In an Obama world, Univision, which produces the Latin Grammys, gave us a McCain spectacle.

Latin Grammys Have New, Decidedly Feminine Touch

The ninth annual Latin Grammy Awards, which take place Thursday night in Houston, are looking like Ladies Night, though not in the usual sense. Instead, this year's nominations feature an unprecedented number of non-traditional and powerful women, several of them in the top categories.

Latin Grammys Go the Alternative Route

It was almost two decades ago that Cafe Tacuba was an unsigned underground garage rock band in a distant suburb of sprawling Mexico City. Their lead singer snarled like Johnny Rotten, and their music sounded like indie-rock faves the Violent Femmes, with some funky norteno beats thrown in for good measure. But on Thursday, this immensely talented and creative quartet will triumphantly take the stage of the ninth annual Latin Grammy Awards in Houston, as the leading nominees with six nominations.
